NRI Voting Rights bill pasesd in Rajyasabha

The bill passed in upper house in Indian Parliament. However it does not mention any provisions on how to provide voting rights. Law minister in his previous interview mentioned that voters need to be physically present on the election day. It is not really possible for logical, logistical and financial reasons. So we have to continue our efforts until we get real voting rights. See more details of this bill at rediff and add your voice to our nri voting rights effort to get absentee voting rights.

San Francisco Bay Area PFL participates in Independence Day Celebrations:
The India day event is held every year in Fremont, CA on open grounds. They had a booth at the event and volunteers staffed it throughout the two days. At the event, attended by over 5000 people, they were able to reach the message to over 500 people. They campaigned for voting rights for NRI's asking people to sign a petition to the Govt. of India to allow NRI's to vote by absentee vote in the Indian Elections to participate in India's political process as its rightful citizens. Over a dozen volunteers of PFL worked together to man the booth. Ravindra Nandam led the effort to coordinate the tasks across all volunteers and logistics for the event. His diligent planning and attention to details helped make this a great success for PFL.
